Strengthening the world's resources. For all of us who live in it.

The ICCF Group is an umbrella organization that works to advance conservation governance by building political support, providing on-the-ground solutions, and applying a natural resource wealth management™ framework to sustainably develop and manage the earth’s natural resources.

The ICCF Group has identified governance as an underaddressed aspect in conservation and thus the limiting factor when it comes to creating positive and sustainable solutions to issues involving natural resources. We facilitate a collaborative environment where governments, businesses, and the NGO community can come together and develop market-based approaches that incorporate the value of nature and sustainable management practices into the use of natural resources.

The ICCF Group applies a caucus model to build political will around unifying topics of conservation and natural resource management.

A caucus is a group of supporters or members within a Parliament or Congress who share a similar position or concern about an issue. We use caucuses as a forum through which education and policy formulation on key natural resource management issues take place. ICCF U.S., ICCF Colombia, and ICCF Kenya are the secretariats which support caucuses in these respective countries. The ICCF Group also directly supports other caucuses in Mexico, Namibia, Peru, Tanzania, and Zambia..

Global conservation leadership. Political will & on-the-ground solutions.

The ICCF Group applies a caucus model to build political will around unifying topics of conservation and natural resource management.

Our programs engage political decision makers in the United States and partner nations, and deploy top conservation professionals from U.S. and Canadian governments. With headquarters in Washington, D.C., we have established regional offices in Kenya, Malawi, Mexico and Colombia. In this capacity we work to ensure the sustained buy-in of governments for the efficacy of projects to conserve ecosystems vital to our planet.

“Many of the biggest threats of the coming years will come from regions with resource insecurity, and the education ICCF brings policymakers is critical to our understanding of the underlying nature of these threats and how the U.S. must address them.”

-- Senator Tom Udall (D-NM), ICC Co-Chairman

Building Political Will

The ICCF Group is uniquely capable of producing meaningful collaboration among policymakers across the globe. Since 2004 ICCF has served as the official secretariat to the U.S. Congressional International Conservation Caucus. The U.S. Congressional International Conservation Caucus is established as one of the most powerful and effective institutions in Washington, DC. Leaders of the caucus identified the need to engage parliaments around the world to support political action to advance on conservation priorities, strengthen understandinag and approaches to these issues, and increase the efficacy of U.S. investment in international conservation programs.

Our Approach

What makes The ICCF Group different from other organizations—and what makes us so effective at building political will—is that we work within a caucus model. Through caucuses, we are able to educate politicians and policymakers, and encourage and help craft policy and legislation that supports long-term sustainable natural resource development and biodiversity protection—while fostering resilient economies and ecosystems.

On-the-Ground Solutions

Developing nations often lack the institutional and human capacity to properly manage their most important natural assets. For over 100 years, though, the U.S. has been successfully managing national parks, forests and other resources. By leveraging the expertise of the U.S. and other nations, The ICCF Group assists governments and the private sector in partner nations to establish best conservation and development practices.

Forming Solutions

In addition to its programs, the ICCF Group has formed extensive networks of leading corporate and conservation organizations which together with political engagement and on the ground capacity are elements needed for lasting solutions. These elements are the foundation for creating sound conservation policy and implementation, and the development of capacity to sustainably manage natural resources.

Striking a Balance: Conservation Governance

At The ICCF Group, we believe in a simple principle: In order for conservation measures to be
supported and embraced by people, they must provide real benefits to people.
